Lead Engineer - 3D Thermofluids
Description
Role Summary:
The role of Lead Engineer - 3D Thermofluids will be to work closely with Design, Production, and Application Engineering to support product development and provide design guidance. In this role you will work systematically to make informed decisions and apply skills in the areas of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), heat transfer, and thermodynamics to issues of moderate complexity. The Lead Engineer is based out of INNIO's Waukesha, Wisconsin office and is responsible for constructing CFD models for the accurate simulation of natural gas engine systems or sub-systems, correlating model results with test data, and developing design predictability to speed up Time to Market.
Location - this position has a hybrid work structure to include a combination of onsite at our facility in Waukesha & remote from home.
Responsibilities:
- Familiar with the design requirements of reciprocating engine’s critical components such as pistons, power cylinders, cylinder liners, heads, and engine cooling systems to assess critical to quality (CTQ’s) performance for each of these components.
- Constructing accurate CFD models and conduct various analyses of the engine airpath, combustion, cooling, fuel, and lubrication systems.
- Ability to interpret CFD methods to quantify hardware impacts on component and/or engine performance to help drive the engine design and address issues that arise during the engine development process.
- Must be able to provide required inputs from model and drawing study to support FEA and CFD team to analyze and improve current designs including detailing the required boundary conditions.
- Define simulation, experimental project requirements and objectives, generate statements of work, define timelines, and ensure on-time completion of projects.
- Develop domain expertise and share knowledge with peers and the engineering community through technical reports.
- Must possess excellent verbal, written communication skills and strong technical presentation skills.
- Must possess a strong desire to learn, investigate, and solve technical issues in a team environment.
